No discrimintation

My Edible Bucket list is all inclusive. It doesn’t solely contain budget friendly ingredients or restaurants and it most definitely consists of must-visit fast food chains. I know, what an unrefined palate. I guess, I truly have the desire to see what all the hype is about concerning certain things and to also experience life the way I am able to relate to all people- through food.

I preface all of this to say that eating at Mellow Mushroom has been on my bucket list for a few years. There is only one Mellow Mushroom in Memphis and T and I were in that area of town late one evening.  Having not eaten dinner, we decided what a perfect opportunity we had to finally check this off of my list. The Mellow Mushroom closes at 10:00 on weeknights, T and I walked in at 9:45 hoping that they would not turn us away hungry. I asked a server if we could still come in and she warmly replied that of course  we could. T and I choose a secluded booth where we can peruse the menu and select a few things to try.

We began with a trio of pretzels. Yum! One was Honey & Cinnamon, one Garlic Butter & Parmesan, and the last was Butter & Salt. I greatly preferred the sweet over the savory.

Sweet and Savory Doughy Pillows!

The employees at Mellow Mushroom are super accommodating! They truly let you have it your way! We ordered a pizza with two different halves, while omitting bacon from one quarter of one half and tofu and black olives from the other substituting it with roasted red peppers and portobello mushrooms– oh and I swapped out an olive oil base for the marinara. Confusing? Not to those a Mellow Mushroom!! We ordered half Mega Veggie with olive oil as the bast and with a few veggies swaps the other half was the red skin potato pie, minus the bacon on a quarter of the pie.

One colorfully, complex, and confusing pizza

Beautiful Veggies!

Yum! Yum! Yum! All of the vegetables were so fresh, delicious, and plentiful. They were not skimpy when putting toppings on our pizza.

Loaded Potato!

Yum! Yum! Yum! Yum! Yes, I just gave one more yum to the non-veggie pizza! (that NEVER happens, YUM!) What a good invention this pizza was by the folks at Mellow Mushroom! Caramelized onions, chives, sour cream, & potatoes are just some of the things that make up this quite clever invention! Potatoes on pizza work and are not at all a carb overload!

Tasty Pizza, Chewy crust, incredibly friendly & helpful servers! This evening was a wonderful experience! The fact that we came arrived so late in the evening was not at all detrimental to our visit. We received proper attention and the quality of our food was spot on and our food was brought to us hot!  We will definitely be back; hopefully, a little earlier in the evening!

Question of the day: Do you have a certain chain restaurant on your edible bucket list? Which one?
